I have a job which consists of several related activities. I’m looking for a quote either for the entire job, or any part of it (I’m willing to hire different people for different parts). Following is a description of the job and a specification.

Please note: This specification is written by a non-technical person. Consequently, parts of it may not make sense or may request that things be done in one way, when another approach would be much easier and logical. Consequently, please feel free to disagree with the specification and specify an alternative approach.

Objective:

I have a MySQL database which is used to store property descriptions. In other words, each “record” would describe one property (type of house, price, house details, etc.). A colleague has a similar database, but stores slightly different information for each house. My objective is to take the properties on his database and move them onto my database. As he updates his database daily, I will need to copy his properties onto my database on a daily basis.

I do not have direct access to his database. However, he will put the property details into files which I have FTP access to. He has 8 agents working for him, and for each agent there will be:
• One CSV (Comma Separated Value??) file which has all the properties for that agent. There is one record per property (each record having 50 fields).
• For most properties there will be a number of JPG photos. Each property with photos will have one file, with between 1 and 6 photos.

Required work

For each agent, I need to:
1. FTP the property file and photos onto my internet site directory
2. Copy the property file details into my SQL database. This involves not only a copy, but a certain amount of reformatting as my database has slightly different fields than his. For example, in my SQL field PROPERY-TYPE I have either “House” or “Apartment”. He has either “H” or “A”. I’ve written the Algorithm for the conversions required, but this needs to be converted to the appropriate language. To avoid duplicate property descriptions, the software will need to check the PROPERY-ID field of the record to determine if the property is already in the database (if so, it should overwrite the existing description rather than add a new one).
3. Extract the photos from each photo file, assign them appropriate names, and then copy them to my photo directory. Each file can contain between 1 and 6 photos
4. The SQL database will then need to have the corresponding property record updated to contain the names of the corresponding photos.

This needs to be automated as much as possible.

Quotation

Ideally I would like to have an approximate quote for points 1 to 4 above. However, I would accept quotes for individual items.

I believe that step 1 above can be done with a few simple commands which effectively copy an entire directory from my colleague’s site to mine. I have not yet confirmed this.

I believe that step 2 above is relatively straight-forward coding. I’ve written a detailed specification which states exactly what must be done for each field, so little or no design work is required. Just coding.

As I haven’t provided a detailed specification, I do not expect an exact quote. However, I’m looking for a rough indication and comments on what approach (e.g. what language/application and why) would be used to do the above. Any quote provided is non-binding (after all, I can’t ask for a firm quote until I’ve provided the detailed specification.

For some of this work there may be existing applications, which merely need to be configured. I’m quite willing to accept a quotation which involves purchase of an off-the-shelf application and configuration thereof (for one or more parts of the above job, this may be a more economical approach).

We have many kind of scripts / .fla and .swf files / tutorials / documentations / example codes / other similar applications with source code and many other resources from which you can learn how to develop a new feature ,function , etc… or you can even copy a piece of code from a example or an existing application after fully analyzing , testing , debugging it and cleaning unnecessary code , replacing any piece of code with a better algorithm which performs fast and better. etc…
I dont want to compromise on features , quality and speed. Before paying you in full i and my programmers will read the whole code and test it in many ways - on all browsers , on all OS and all kind of Computers , etc… and will try all features of the system in all possible conditions so that we can ensure our system is complete and reliable.

Taking the attached photoshop file and implementing it quickly, prototype quality, in the followng CMS systems:

- PHPWCMS
- Joomla
- Zope/plone

I will give the coder access to the back end of my website: smallsoft.ca, which has a fantastico installer which will install all but the Zope version… I will give the web designer ssh access to install zope (python is already available)

The CMS must be capable of multiple languages, with paralel entries in english, french and spanish. The designer can just input dummy content. The CMS must generate a language switch bar at the top, as in the mockup.

The CMS must be able to generate the navigation menu on the fly, with the ability to add sections.

If during the creation of this site in one of the 4 CMS systems, the CMS turns out to be inadequate to the task, then just skip that one and provide me with an explanation of why it failed…

If during the creation the designer can suggest a different open source system that would be superior, then he/she should try to implement that one and I’ll arrange for a bonus.

The sites must be done using a CSS.

In the design there is a "main" section, which requires the following features:
- it must be surrounded by a div tag and be of fixed height with a scroll bar at the left if it gets too long
- there must be the capacity upload a picture to the CMS which would appear in one of the pages. The picture would have a ‘click to enlarge’ overlay on top and pop up a big version when clicked
- the CMS must have a rich text editor but the content must follow the css of the site.

1) The 4 CMS systems above installed on my server with logins and passwords provided for the back ends
2) Each system must be used to implement the site for which I’ve given a photoshop mockup.
3) The content of the sites my come from the CMS itself, and dummy content must be entered in each to show it
4) If any system prooves inadequate, a written explanation of it’s inadequacies must be given.

1) + 2) The first two types will be subclassed from the ATLink type, part of ArcheTypesContentTypes (ATCT). The only requirement for these types are they have new names - Official Links and Community Links. Please note these types MUST be subclassed versions of ATLink and not copies of ATLink renamed.

3) The third content type will be subclassed from the RichDocument content type (http://plone.org/products/richdocument). RichDocument is a folderish content type that acts as a document (a rich document which contains ImageAttachment and FileAttachments).

My main requirements for this new type to be named ‘Website’ are

Currently RichDocument can have two further content types addable - ImageAttachment and FileAttachment. I require Website to contain only the ImageAttachment field (remove the FileAttachment code) and then add the two new content types Official Link and Community Link as addable types. When these types are added to Website I require that the Title of those content types be displayed in a box as links using the entered URL of that type similarly to how FileAttachments are in RichDocument (listed in a box).

I also require a number of new fields to added to Website schema.

‘Image’ Field using Archetypes Image Widget (ATNews uses this widget and field).

‘Url’ Field (This is a direct URL entry field on Website schema)

‘Website Type’ field that uses a Radio button selection widget from a supplied display list. (i.e. Membership, Free, etc). You should only be able to selct one option.

‘Accepts’ field using a Multiselection widget (checkbox) with 6 values i.e. Credit Card, Cheque, etc

‘Trial’ with two fields - Duration (dropdown selection widget with 6 values) and Cost (numerical) i.e the page template would display - Trial : 1 month $ 6.95

I need an experienced and professional web developer team/company to code the backend of our auction style website (almost no similarities to eBay style auctions) and implement a frontend using the design template we have (Photoshop file).

There are detailed schematics of the website, basic layout templates for all the web pages (about 13) and a two-page document explaining the way our auction engine works. This and any other detail not mentioned in this page will only be mentioned after an NDA has been signed.

The backend includes:
- client database;
- items database;
- statistical info (to feature in admin panel);
- admin panel;
- auction engine;
- 4 stage bid process (bid, confirmation, payment, thank you);
- password/login retrieval process;
- members only areas;
- If possible, create three instances of the website (copy/paste and relevant XML connectors) so the website can be in 3 different languages (we would translate it all). If this dramatically increases the cost of production, let me know why and do not include it in your quote.

The frontend includes:
- implement all text/images throughout the website with the help of the layouts I provide;
- implement the design template and make sure it is consistently reflected throughout the site.

The website should only require, XML, PHP, MySQL, Javascript(?), CSS and XHTML. However, feel free to suggest the use of a CMS system like Mambo or RedDot, which makes editing and maintenance much easier.

What I need:

1) Someone to download the html code from the full text document for each referencing patent (i.e., each of the 1,314).
2) Once these pages of plain text html code are in hand, someone to parse the results into fields in an Excel file. There will be about 15 fields. Four of these fields (inventor, inventor location, patents referenced, and other references) will have up to 30 individual entries. I can provide full details on the specific fields that I need for each patent and guidance on the unique text that can be used as markers for finding each field within the full text document.

The deliverable is:

1) An Excel file with each of the 1314 results in its own row. The columns would be the specific fields scraped and parsed from the full text documents.
2) The code you used to do this. It must be well commented.

PURPOSE/PROBLEM:
I would like some software that interacts with Google Earth(earth.google.com) to show the gradual movement of an object (an airplane) from one location to another, along with its corresponding fuel level. The program will be used as a proof on concept to demonstrate Google Earth’s capacity to handle movement and changing
variables.

DISCLAIMER:
The software will not be used calculate fuel levels for actual airplanes, and the software is not being commissioned by Google or its affiliates. The software is intended for use by an academic geographer.

INPUT FORMAT:
The input is a text file with the following format.

Explanation of the sample file:
In this file, the airplane leaves at 1:00a.m. from longitude 10.5 degrees east, latitude 12 degrees north, elevation 0 meters above sea level, with 32769 liters of fuel in the airplane’s tank. The plane arrives at its destination at 1:00pm, at longitude 35.121, latitude is 35.232, elevation 3000 meters above sea level, and 5000 liters of fuel remaining.

The time given at both locations is the time at the origin airport (ie. you don’t need to account for time zones).

PRODUCT:
The software will need to be able to read the input text file, then interact with Google Earth (probably using the properties of Google Earth’s KML file format) to show the location of the airplane, the time at that location, and its corresponding fuel load. The plane’s position at any time should calculated proportional to the total distance and total time of travel. Similarly, the fuel level should be assessed by calculating the change in fuel from origin to destination and subtracting a corresponding amount as a linear function. The fuel level might need to be coded as part of KML’s tag.

REQUIREMENTS:
To do this project, you need knowledge of Google Earth KML files:

I would like the number of time steps for any flight to be appropriate in order to get a sense of movement (maybe twenty steps and a twenty second visualization). The software should not be "real time" (ie. a ten hour flight should not require ten hours to visualize).

FINAL REMARKS:
I envision the final product to be dot blipping across the screen of Google Earth (whether the fuel level and time is automatically displayed or has to be "clicked" is up to the preference of the Provider — or possibly the limitations of the Google Earth software).

Potential providers, Please provide information on preferred programming language and/or server requirements that I will likely need in order to run the software.

My guess is that a programmer with knowledge of KML could knock this out relatively quickly.

Probable Algorithm
1) get data from text file
2) assign number of time steps for visualization (let’s say 20)
3) calculate positions and fuel loads along each of the route’s time steps.
4) serve positions and corresponding data to Google Earth (in whatever way you find most appropriate).
5) that’s it.

The software input is two text files. Each text file contains a listing of coordinates of a single polygon.

Find the intersection of the two polygons and provide the result. The result will either be no intersection, a polygon, or multiple polygons. If the result is a polygon are multiple polyongs, create text files in the same format as the input.

No user interface is needed. You can make the text files have static names and always be in static locations (like c:testpolygon1.txt).

Some relevant information can be found online by googling "intersecting spherical polygons". These sources may be useful for someone with a good engineering or mathematics background. Please do account for the spherical nature of the problem (the flat surface version of the problem is one I can already solve and program myself).

Any programming language can be used. Please ask if you have questions.

Explanation:
Each line is vertex of the polygon provides as: latitude, longitude(in decimal degrees; WGS84, if that matters). Note that the first and last coordinates close the polygon and, thus, are always the same; vertices are given clockwise. Positive latitudes value are the northern hemisphere (like 45 means 45 degrees North), negative latitudes are in the southern hemisphere (-12.5 would mean 12.5 degrees South). Also, positive longitudes are in the eastern hemisphere; negative are the western hemisphere. You can cut, past, then search for the individual coordinates in Google Local for clarification.

Writing the code built upon GNU-license source is fine. My purpose is for discussion in academic community. After reviewing literature on the problem, a large amount of information can be found using the search terms "clipping polygons".

You will need to install the CMS (Python, PHP or ASP) with a "nice" heading on your server for review and after Wednesday you can move it to the hosting server we will adquire depending on the CMS platform chosen (Python, PHP or ASP) for further development. As an example, you can use Typo3, Plone, Dotnetnuke, Xaraya, Joomla. Just make sure it can accomodate all the requirements of the project.

The site always use time auctions, so we always know when the action is going to end.

So I want to select some items from the auction and have them as SNIPE items, I will assing a MAXIUM BID for each ITEM. Then the program will check every day or every time I request in what price is now the ITEM.

When the time is going to be over, 5 minutes before it close, the program will check the price of the ITEMS, if the price is lower than my MAXIUM BID, it keeps active…

10 Seconds(or any time I can specify) before the ITEMS are going to close the bid, the system checks the actual PRICE, and if it is lower than my MAXIUM BID, then the program automatically BIDs for me in each ITEM that is available, so I win the BID.

I need to assing some variables to each SNIPE Item:
- The date and time where is going to end the bid
- The MAXIUM BID that I can afford for that item
- The incremental amount, this sets in wich amounts the automatic bid will increase the the bid price. For example, if I assing a 100 value for this, and one item have a price of $ 3,000, then the program will BID 3,100.

The site runs under ASP programing, is identical to http://auctions.samsclub.com uses the same URL actions and FORMS it´s the same engine.

I need it for a LINUX box, preferably in PHP & MySQL, or something that I can run in the box.
